Location: Shkagamik-Kwe Health Centre (SKHC)
Reports To: Tracy Joly, Director of Primary Care
Hours of Work: Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
Lunch: One (1) hour unpaid lunch break
Position Summary
The Chiropodist provides comprehensive assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of foot and lower limb conditions for clients receiving care through Shkagamik-Kwe Health Centre. Reporting to the Director of Primary Care, the Chiropodist works as part of an interdisciplinary team to support client mobility, comfort, function, and overall health through wholistic, client-centred care.
This role supports early intervention, chronic disease management, injury prevention, and education, contributing to improved quality of life and continuity of care for clients across the lifespan.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive foot and lower limb assessments, including biomechanical and vascular assessments
- Diagnose and treat acute and chronic foot conditions, including skin, nail, structural, and musculoskeletal concerns
- Provide routine foot care, wound care, diabetic foot care, and preventative treatments within scope of practice
- Develop individualized treatment plans and provide follow-up care as required
- Educate clients on foot health, injury prevention, footwear, and self-care practices
- Collaborate with physicians, nurse practitioners, nurses, and allied health professionals to support integrated primary care
- Identify and manage risk factors related to mobility, falls, and chronic conditions
- Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential clinical documentation in electronic medical records
- Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings, case conferences, and care planning
- Adhere to professional standards, infection prevention and control practices, and organizational policies
- Support culturally safe, respectful, and trauma-informed care
Qualifications & Experience
- Graduate of an accredited Chiropody program
- Registered and in good standing with the College of Chiropodists of Ontario
- Experience working in primary care, community health, or clinical settings
- Experience providing care to clients with complex or chronic health conditions
- Strong clinical assessment and treatment skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team
- Proficiency with electronic medical records and standard office software
